DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Silicon Quantum Photonics – DTU Electro

 
DTU Electro invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position within the field of silicon quantum photonics. 

 
The miniaturization of integrated silicon photonics combined with recent developments in color centers make silicon quantum photonics a highly promising interdisciplinary research field with applications spanning quantum light sources, sensing, and fundamental research on light-matter interaction. At DTU, we have amassed considerable expertise in nanofabrication, quantum-optics theory, spectroscopy, and much more, which give excellent opportunities for research, teaching, and innovation within silicon quantum photonics. To harvest this potential and to strategically strengthen the area, we are now opening this new position for a tenure track assistant professor in silicon quantum photonics.


Responsibilities and qualifications
The successful candidate must have demonstrated research at the highest level within nanophotonics, silicon photonics, color centers, metasurfaces, and more. The candidate is expected to grow to eventually lead the experimental efforts within silicon quantum photonics at DTU Electro, so experimental experience is central, but quantum physics and quantum technologies rely heavily on theory, which is therefore considered at least as important as the experimental expertise. In addition, experience with numerical simulations of nanophotonic structures and nanophotonic chip design is very important. 


The responsibilities of the tenure track include: 

• Developing the department’s experimental and theoretical capabilities within silicon quantum photonics with particular emphasis on quantum light sources and light-matter interaction. 
• Supervise and co-supervise postdocs, PhD students, MSc students, and students at other levels.
• Formulate and continuously develop a research strategy for silicon quantum photonics, which outlines a path to high-impact research and/or innovation while being aligned with the strategy of DTU and DTU Electro.
• Contribute to the development of the Department’s teaching within solid-state quantum optics in general and silicon quantum photonics in particular.

 
You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment  
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 

Starting date is 1 August 2026 or according to mutual agreement. The position is a full-time position.
