The Non Profit, Web
Based Community Helps Military Communities Find Meaningful Employment
SAN FRANCISCO, CA.----Honored by making Time Magazine’s Top 21, Hire A Hero provides a transition
assistance program geared to service people and their families trying to obtain
meaningful employment in the civilian world. Run by the Armed Forces Support
Foundation organization, www.hireahero.org has over 190,000
registered members and more than 10,000 employers using the site; the
organization is actively seeking corporate sponsorship.
“We are extremely excited and grateful to be in Time magazine’s Top 21 Ways to Serve American,”
said Rob Barr, COO of Hireahero.org “The added exposure gives us the
opportunity to bring awareness to our organization on a grander scale, and more
importantly, helps us to engage new people who want to make a difference in the
lives of those who have given so much for our freedoms.”
Hire
A Hero is currently looking to connect with military friendly employers that
are interested in hiring dependable employees, all while assisting them to stay
OFCCP compliant.
Corporate sponsorships are needed to help hire
more social "net" workers that will guide, aide, and mentor returning
service members until they find employment. “Our organization is interested in
finding sponsors that want to help us make a difference,” says Barr. “We have
created a new class of Social worker that pro-actively reaches out to the
military community and offers a better transition from what they currently
receive prior from leaving active duty. Our goal in the next three years is to
have 250,000 returning service members and over 100,000 employers registered
with in our network.”
To help
ensure military personnel has access to rich employment opportunities; Hire a
Hero currently has a bill in congress, S1971. Hire a Hero Act states the
federal government should support private sector employment initiatives for
military personnel to help ensure that those who serve or have served in the
Armed Forces have access to gainful employment.
